Come see us and your children will get a glance of what kindergarten looks like and you can have multiple people on hand to help you get them registered for the big step in school. If you know of any families with 4 year-olds, please share the information with them. We can't wait to meet our new JES Rams!

Join us on March 10 at 5:30 PM in our cafeteria. We will have a family Science Night here at JES with Mr. Wilson and The Miracle of Science. Demonstrations are unique and fun and tied to our science benchmarks of learning. It is not required that you purchase anything, but there will be science kits for sale for student learning. We hope to see you next week on Tuesday, March 10.

During the entire month of March and a portion of April, we will be having an attendance competition between the classes. This competition will be set up like March Madness Basketball. We encourage our students to R.I.S.E. UP and SHOW UP. Let's play ball!

Next week we will celebrate Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss' birthday. On Monday, we will kick off a week of reminding our students, once again, the importance of reading. While we do have to read to learn, we want our students to know that reading can be fun, too. Join us as we promote literacy this week through fun Dr. Seuss activities.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Jenkins Elementary starting Tuesday, Feb. 17 - Monday, Feb. 23, 2026. All students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair during their media specials day. There will also be a special time for families to come in on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM (after parent pick-up is complete).

Last week was School Counselor Week and because of school closures, we were unable to celebrate her on Friday like we had planned. Happy School Counselor Week to our amazing Mrs. Gibson!

Mrs. Gibson has been an incredible mentor and advocate for our students this year. Her dedication to building relationships and supporting both students and staff makes JES a better place every day.

Even though we’re celebrating a week late due to smoke and closures, our gratitude is right on time. You are truly appreciated and valued at JES!

Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. Elementary School hosted 22 teams for a VEX Robotics tournament today. VEX had a representative there who was shocked that it was so well planned since it was the first event ever. We are proud of our JES students and coaches.

Due to smoke conditions and road closures, the following updates are in effect today:

-Interlachen Jr.–Sr. High School
-Robert H. Jenkins Jr. Elementary School

The following schools are OPEN for PARENT DROP-OFF if you can safely transport your child; all west-end morning bus routes are canceled (updates regarding afternoon bus routes will be provided later today):
-Q.I. Roberts Jr.–Sr. High School
-Melrose Elementary School
-Ochwilla Elementary School

We will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we prioritize safety.

Due to road closures happening on highway 315 south:

Robert H. Jenkins Jr. Elementary will be closed for today.

Ochwilla Elementary School and Melrose Elementary School will be parent drop off only.

Bus routes cannot run at this time on the west end of the county.

We will be making a determination within the next hour for Interlachen Jr.-Sr. High School and Q.I. Roberts Jr.-Sr. High School.

If you cannot safely get your child to school, absences will be excused.

Florida Highway Patrol is closing Highway 20 at 315 to Lake Galilee (Johnson) due to zero visibility and smoke.

This will cause some bus routes to not be able to run or be delayed. Please do not leave your child at a bus stop.

All absences will be excused due to these conditions.
